You are what you eat, literally.

Eating healthy is the key to FEELING healthy.

When you’re a mama like myself having to balance an inflammatory bowl disease AND a family, making nutritious choices is so important! I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis back in 2011, and ever since then I have been limited to the types of foods I am a”allowed” to consume. When you have ulcerative colitis, you’re food choices are limited and sometimes this can create a lack of nutrients within your body.  In addition, when I go through a flare up, it also causes an interference with the absorption of nutrients and leads to deficiencies. I am a full believer in getting your nutrition from real and nutritious foods, and RARELY do I supplement my nutrients, however one supplement that I choose to take daily to better my digestive health are Vital Proteins collagen peptides!

Collagen is high in the amino acid glycine which helps improve digestive health by regulating inflammation. In addition to assisting with gut health, collagen helps in many other ways. Since collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, a lack of it can lead to premature aging as well as many other issues such as osteoporosis.

Collagen is the glue that holds us together. It’s found in your skin, ligaments, cartilage, tendons, muscles, bone tissues, blood vessels, intervertebral discs, GI tract, and even in your eyes. As you age, your collagen production decreases which is part of the reason you show signs of aging as you get older. This is because by the age of 40, your body loses more collagen than it is able to produce, and by the age of 60, over half of your body’s collagen has been depleted! The benefits of replacing the lost collagen in your body are endless. From more youthful looking skin to reducing inflammation and healing your gut, collagen is a true nutritional powerhouse.

For all you mama’s out there with postpartum hair loss, or anyone who has this naturally occur, collagen helps!!! My postpartum hair loss was REAL , and collagen has helped with the re-growth so much! I am so happy I was able to find something that was so great for my digestion and my digestive system! Collagen is one of the few supplements that I believe everyone should add to their diet and will undoubtedly benefit from. I am a 24 year old mama of 2 pretty girls and I am so thankful I am able to keep my health (and looks) on the ups thanks to these peptides!
